For this month’s issue, EEFB looked back at some films screened during the Transilvania International Film Festival last month. Alina Popescu saw Tudor Giurgiu’s Of Snails and Men – a comedy set in 1992 in which 1000 workers from a Romanian factory donate their sperm, thus hoping to answer the bankruptcy of their employer. Ana Ribeiro saw Benedek Fliegauf’s Just the Wind – a drama centering on a Gypsie family trying to survive in a hostile environment – as well as Maja Miloš’s Clip. Miloš’s debut feature revolves around a young girl who turns to sex and drugs to cope with her family problems. In our Interviews section, you will also find a conversation with the Serbian directress.
Finally, we saw Slobodan Šijan’s Who’s Singin’ Over There? for our 2012 Balkan focus, a Yugoslav cult comedy set during the Second World War.
